Why station-e Language Lab at School?
The idea of teacher as the source of knowledge and students as mere recipients has been challenged with the advent of Internet and ICT in education. We have conceptualized a model of a Smart Class cum Language Lab wherein ICT in education can take material shape in every school affiliated with CBSE. It will serve as a space for the audio-visual learning resources designed to ensure that the learners remain on par with their global counterparts.
In terms of actual operation, we propose to establish Smart Class cum Language Lab in one of the classrooms in school. We propose that the use of Smart Class should be initiated from Std. 6 as the students will be at the proper age to grasp the knowledge offered to them through the ICT resources.
The entire Station-e product of Smart Class would mean a transformation in the skills set of students and they will be able to operate in the 21st century with confidence and ease. As we are aware, graduates and postgraduates in India today are found unemployable, pointed out by many agencies including World Bank, we believe that if we take the Smart Class initiative in school, we will create young minds that will be competent enough to pursue successful careers in their chosen field of endeavour. Following are the modules provided:(a) Communicative English (b) Computer Skills 1. Communicative English for Standard 6th – 45 Minutes – 70 Days 1. Standard 6th – 60 Minutes – 35 Days 2. Why station-e Language Lab at University?
Students studying at the university are in pursuit of higher learning. The resources and processes of higher learning are encoded in English. Unfortunately, we have yet to develop mechanisms and processes to train the youth to decode the knowledge resources through the proficiency in English. Employability of students passing out of universities is also linked with the proficiency in English. Apart from this, the youth passing out of the university is expected to be a model example of a professional and citizen of the society. It can be accomplished only if s/he is trained in the requisite life and soft skills. Station-e Digital Lab at University can serve to provide one-stop solution for all the above-mentioned aspects of holistic skills development of the youth.
